National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day
Friday April 27th from 11:00 am to 2:30 pm, VA Police Officers will be located outside the Cincinnati VA Medical Center main entrance (circle drop off area) for staff, Veterans and the local community to drop off any old or not used prescriptions (no liquids or sharps will be received).
The National Prescription Drug Take Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs.
According to the 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health, 6.4 million Americans abused controlled prescription drugs. The study shows that a majority of abused prescription drugs were obtained from family and friends, often from the home medicine cabinet. Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. That's why it was great to see our local community clean out their medicine cabinets and turn in - safely and anonymously - prescription drugs.
This Take Back Day event provides an opportunity for our Veterans, family members, local community and staff to prevent drug addiction and overdose deaths.
