“Celebrating People in Action” is this year’s theme for National Volunteer Week during April 15-21. The Cincinnati Veterans Affairs Medical Center and Ft. Thomas Division will honor volunteers who support our Veterans. The week is to show the role volunteers play and the value of their service. National Volunteer Week is sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network. “Volunteers are our most valuable resource,” said Linda Smith, director of the CVAMC. “They support the Veterans we care for and making National Volunteer Week a time to recognize their huge contributions.” Our goal is to provide a volunteer program that serves Veterans and their families. Local volunteers worked 76,200 hours in 2011. Volunteer hours reflect a savings of over $1.6 million for VA, states, Tracy Butts, chief of voluntary service. |
