  • On the day of your Eye appointment:
    · Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow for checking in registration, and as soon as you arrive to the Eye Clinic do check in at the front desk, room 156B .
    · Bring your glasses and sunglasses for the testing and for driving home after the dilation of your eyes.
    · Anticipate spending 1 hour to 1 ½ hours for a complete eye examination, and if entitled to glasses you will be fitted on the same day.
    · If you are not able to keep your appointment, please notify The Eye Clinic as soon as possible by calling (513) 861-3100, Ext. 5311. We will attempt to reschedule your appointment on a date and at a time more convenient.
    · If you are currently covered by any health insurance plan, including Medicare supplemental, please bring your insurance card with you on the date of your appointment.
    · If your condition should worsen before your next appointment, please call the Eye Clinic at (513) 861-3100, Ext. 5311.

  • Eligibility for Eye Glasses
    · Those with compensable service-connected disability (Priority 1, 2, 3) (For example: 10%-100% service connected);
    · Those who are former prisoners-of-war (POWs) (Priority 3);
    · Those in receipt of benefits under Title 38 United States Code (U.S.C.) 1151 (Priority 3);
    · Those in receipt of an increased pension based on the need for regular aid and attendance or by reason of being permanently housebound (Priority 4).
    · For Priority 5, 7 and 8 veterans (0% SC and Non-Service Connected) the VA will not provide eyeglasses for normally occurring refractive conditions like: Myopia (near-sightedness), Hyperopia (far-sightedness), Astigmatism (“foot-ball” shaped eyes) or Presbyopia (need for reader glasses). However, Priority 5, 7 and 8 veterans with visual impairments or severe visual impairments caused by medical conditions may be eligible for eyeglasses

For eligible veterans, VA will replace eyeglasses at any time when there is an improvement of one line of visual acuity (For example, if your vision would change from 20/40 to 20/25).
