The VAMC Dietitians are registered
by the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the
American Dietetic Association, obtain a four year
degree or higher in nutrition or dietetics. Clinical
dietitians are responsible for performing nutrition
assessments, documenting nutritional care plans
and providing diet education to veterans. Examples
of a dietitian’s duties include:

Instruction on diabetic or weight
loss diets
-
Information on weight gain
for cancer patients
-
Education on cholesterol and
blood pressure reduction

Evaluation of medical history
and appropriateness of diet or supplements
The outpatient dietitians provide
diet education and classes in the following clinics:
· Outpatient Nutrition Clinic
(M-F, 8:00-3:00)
· Diabetes Classes, 4-week series (T 1:00-3:00,
F 10:00-12:00)
· Diabetes Clinic (M, W, TH morning)
· Weight Control/MOVE Program, 6-week series
(W, 2:00-4:00)
