Incarcerated Veterans Outreach Program (IVOP)
Inmate veterans comprise almost 15% of the people in jails (Mumola 2000). Many veterans in jail are not aware of the range of services and programs that the VA provides and/or is able to coordinate. Those veterans nearing release from prison have the chance to be linked to key VA/community resources that can help them obtain housing, employment, medical and mental health services as well as other resources and services. The V.A. staff can partner with you and your corrections counselor to provide transition planning prior to your release from prison. The goal of the IVOP is to assist you in making a successful transition back to your community, family and to
achieve a productive and healthy lifestyle.
