VA Cincinnati Medical Center
A member of The VA Health Care System of Ohio (VISN 10)
| The
Fisher House program is a unique private-public
partnership that supports America's
military in their time of need. The
program recognizes the special sacrifices
of our men and women in uniform and
the hardships of military service by
meeting a humanitarian need beyond that
normally provided by the Departments
of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Because
members of the military and their families
are stationed worldwide and must often

travel great distances
for specialized medical care, Fisher
House™ Foundation donates "comfort
homes," built on the grounds of
major military and VA medical centers.
These homes enable family members to
be close to a loved one at the most
stressful times - during the hospitalization
for an unexpected illness, disease,
or injury.
Guest who are lodgers must meet the
standards established in the Medical
Center. It states: "A veteran who
reports to this Medical Center for treatment
and is held over for personal convenience
of the VA Medical Center, may be furnished
lodging for either medical and/or administrative
reasons. The veterans must be able to
complete the activities of daily living
independently and not require nursing
or medical intervention before or after
treatment." A caregiver can assist
with making the veteran independent
and without need for nursing or medical
intervention.
Your Health Care provider must submit
a consult request for lodging. Guest/Veteran
will be then be placed on a waiting
list and will be notified if space becomes
available. If a tentative lodger has
not received a confirmation call, it
is good to call one day prior to the
planned arrival to determine if a room
is available at (513) 475-6571.
